On Sunday, I hosted my first ever “live” podcast.
It was not a smooth ride!
I did what any jittery, returning-to-podcasting-after-a-long-time person did and proceeded to change the location of the event at the 11th hour.
When the recording started, not only did I get super emotional (my parents were both there, and I apologised to them for the lies I once told them — yup, it got deep), but I ended up exiting the room a bunch of times.
And yet… the people who were supposed to be there were there.
It was a small group of close friends who I would quite happily be vulnerable with and made all the mistakes… acceptable. Growthful, even. (I truly believe that when we are vulnerable, we allow for connection — deep connection — with others).
And so, whilst there is no recording to share with you (honestly, you really did have to be there), I did want to share with you some of the folks who showed up and what they’re up to.
Folks I’m happy to call my friends.
~
Andrew: building Boz, author to be
fun fact: Andrew was Head of Growth at Venmo — he’s writing a book about that — and we’re both trying to help folks write books
~
Jamie: social media manager, creator and freestyle footballer
fun fact: + we offer whatsapp support to one another regularly, a few timezones apart)
~
Laurence: arts meet tech, musical performer
fun fact: Laurence is the only other guy I’ve met who has openly shared his journey with lust / move away from pornography
~
Mat: an incredibly strong + reliable entrepreneur and human being
fun fact: I met Mat doing a Masters back in 2015-16, later dedicating a book to him
~
Peter: sales with substance, founder of lnks.to
fun fact: like me, he is applying his bricks-n-mortar sales expertise to digital creators
~
Thank you to everyone who tuned in on Sunday and offered their support.
To be honest, I felt pretty shaky, you all helped steady the ship.
I, genuinely, love you all.
